WILLIAM R. HASHINGER, R. A.

Principal

Bill Hashinger has been with LDA since 1983 and an Associate since 1986.  He became a Principal in 1999.

Since joining LDA, Mr. Hashinger has specialized in additions to historic properties, adaptive use, and restoration of historic exteriors.  Recent projects have involved restoration of and additions to the Greene County Courthouse, and design of an addition to Heinz Chapel as well as rehabilitation of the religious school and meeting facilities at Temple Sinai.

Mr. Hashinger’s earlier work has included restoration of an historic warehouse for the new Altoona Railroaders Museum in Altoona, Pennsylvania; the original adaptive reuse of Motor Square Garden in Pittsburgh including restaurant and retail design; and the award-winning conversion of the 1822 Bell Mansion in Antis Township, Pennsylvania to a senior citizens center.

Over the years, Mr. Hashinger has designed and supervised the exterior restoration of many buildings including the Pittsburgh Athletic Association and Masonic Temple in Oakland, numerous schools for the Pittsburgh Board of Education as well as historic buildings at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh.

New construction projects include the addition to the Frick Car and Carriage Museum and the design of a new museum for the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum.

Recent projects include restoration of the Howe Childs Gatehouse, renovation of the Chatham College Library,  and rehabilitation of  the historic B & O Station in Washington, Pennsylvania for use as a tourist promotion center. Mr. Hashinger is currently the project manager for the addition and renovation of Stterret Classical Academy.

On going projects include the rehabilitation of the Avella Railroad Station, many term service projects for the Pittsburgh Board of Education as well as numerous restoration projects at the University of Pittsburgh.

Mr. Hashinger received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Carnegie Mellon University in 1979.  He is registered in Pennsylvania.
